A holistic approach to sleep

When working with a sleep specialist who takes a holistic approach, you can expect to address so much more than just sleep. Sleep is impacted by a host of other factors that many traditional sleep consultants are not trained to recognize or consider. When I begin working with new families, here are some of the things I look for:

💛Does the child have any symptoms of tethered oral ties?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💚Could something in the breastfeeding parent’s diet, or an ingredient in the formula, be impacting baby?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💜Could baby’s birth experience have created any musculoskeletal issues that need to be addressed to relieve discomfort?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💙Has parental mental health been considered?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
❤️ Is there a family history of allergies, sleep apnea, or iron deficiency?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💗Is the child’s daytime nutrition sufficient, and are there any feeding issues to consider?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
and finally, ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🧡is the child’s sleep schedule appropriate for their age and their temperament?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Each individual family and child is unique – without a holistic approach, many of the individual differences are not accounted for and it is nearly impossible to adequately match the right approach to the child.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I’m Cayla Solomon — a certified holistic sleep coach specialising in responsive, root-cause sleep support for babies, children, and adults. I work with families and individuals across Canada and worldwide, and I’ve spent years studying why the standard sleep training advice so often fails the people it’s supposed to help. My approach draws on sleep science, attachment research, and the conviction that understanding your body — or your child’s — is always the first step. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions, and I’m not afraid to say so.
